Mercedes has done the best job with the current regulations since they were introduced in 2014, but someone’s taken a look at what the F1 2016 season so far would look like without the Silver Arrows - it's pretty fascinating!

Here’s What The F1 2016 Season So Far Would’ve Looked Like Without Mercedes

Reddit user Supercar_Toons posted these two imgur (via EEESJ) pictures showing headlines, brief race summaries and championship standings if we were in a parallel universe where Mercedes wasn’t competing in F1.

Naturally 11 of the 12 races have different winners and the shake-up in the top 10 for each round so far has nicely mixed up the drivers’ and constructors’ standings, with Daniel Ricciardo the run-away leader ahead of the summer break.

Another image was posted later on with a graph showing the accumulation of points over the course of the season.

So yeah, while we appreciate the awesome job Mercedes has done so far, this looks pretty damn cool too!

Some things are evident here.
1: F*ck Mercedes.
2: Ricciardo is without a doubt a future world champion.
3: 2017 is probably gonna be awesome.

It would be actually good.

I just thought “wow max is the only one to beat the arrows” then realised they took each other out in spain lol

Next season should just outlaw Mercedes alltogether. Give someone else an opportunity to win some races.

Next season Red Bull will probably be quicker than Mercedes anyway.

Even though it’s still a somewhat uneven playing field this year, this is still interesting. Hopefully next year will be like 2013, where a majoriry of the field will be equal, performance wise.

P.S. I know RB ruled over that era, but still the engine performance was close.

This is so petty. “What sports results would look like without the winners.” Guess what, having mercedes as the CURRENT dominant force gives other teams incentive to try harder, go faster, drive better… it used to be ferrari, then mclaren, red bull, etc. Theres always going to be a team with an edge. So unless you want to impose regulations and make every car identical, just sit back and wait for the next team to step up.
