Here's Your First Chance To Hear Volvo's Violent Polestar V8 In Action
Volvo has released this video of its screaming V8 Supercars series engine - and it sounds good
We received a tantalising preview of Volvo Polestar's 5.0-litre race engine late last year, but now the company has unveiled this video of the screaming V8 in action. It's destined to go in Volvo's entry for the Australian V8 Supercars series.
It's based on the 4.4-litre, Yamaha-derived V8 we've already seen in the XC90 and S80 road cars, not to mention the Noble M600 supercar. This race-spec version has been bored out to 5.0-litres, has new aluminium cylinder heads, a 10:1 compression ratio and eight throttle bodies. All this results in an impressive 650hp and 487lb/ft of torque, plus a screaming 7500rpm readline.
