Here’s Your First Chance To Listen To The Incoming V6 Audi RS4
The next RS4 will be dropping two cylinders and gaining a couple of turbochargers, and thanks to this Nurburgring testing clip, we now have some idea of how it'll sound
Last year the mighty Audi RS4 - a car we’re particularly fond of - was quietly dropped from the range. That’s a damn shame as it’ll be one of the last cars to have the company’s superb 4.2-litre N/A V8 fitted. A twin-turbo V6 replacement has been rumoured for a while, and the noise coming out of this prototype’s tailpipes all but confirms the loss of two cylinders.
Power-wise, we’re looking at around 480bhp, if the most recent reports are to be believed. Also, it’s looking like a saloon variant will be available, unlike the previous generation which was only ever produced as an estate.

The B8 will always be in my heart as a great RS Audi
V8 NA power FTW
Yup. Agreed
Sounds pretty good to me !
I’d like the RS4 as a saloon - said no one ever
i really like it!
I’ll take a B7 RS4 Avant in Mugello Blue with that monstrous V8 rumble (and save £30k+).
This thing is the closest we’ll ever get to a modern Quattro
Lol at the “and save £30k”.
Maintenance will be free I guess
Another victim of the horrible downsizing trend. Just get the older ones this is not worth it
Europe needs their CO2 restrictions bro, since that’s so important compared to their complete lack of diesel emission restrictions. Spewing NOx and particularites everywhereeeee.
I think the v6 twinturbo is an upgrade for the RS4, it’s the engine the RS4 started with.
Also it’ll have a lot more torque then the old 4.2.
And the tuning potential will be great
Is this real life or Gran turismo?
GT was right all along D:
Tested on the Nürburgring? May’s gonna love hearing that!
It’s sounds like a turbocharged V6. How strange…
I just want a saloon version of the RS6.
Sounds like the familiar Audi understeer
