Here's Your First Look At The All-New VW Touareg
It’s official: the new VW Touareg will say hello to the world on 23 March at the Beijing Motor Show. And that…well, that’s about all we know for now - VW has released the reveal date and the above teaser sketch, and not much else.
In the press release we get a few rather predictable statements such as the Touareg offering a “safe and dynamic driving experience,” along with something else about assistance systems and some PR speak about “an unmistakable appearance that is strong in character.”
There is however one reasonably useful nugget of information: it’ll have something called ‘Innovision Cockpit’. The name was trademarked by VW AG in December 2016, and according to the firm it’ll be “one of the largest digital cockpits in its class,” promising to provide “a new type of infotainment environment.” Colour us intrigued.
It’ll be built on VW Group’s MLBevo platform, which it’ll share with the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus and the next Porsche Cayenne. Expect a considerable drop in weight compared to the old Touareg, and a clever, frugal hybrid version to be in the mix.
