Honda Has Built A 189bhp Superbike-Powered Lawn Mower
The Honda Mean Mower has done a Lazarus and risen from its death bed. Four years on from achieving a world-beating 116.57mph top speed, the record-breaking grass-trimmer is at it again – this time with a front-mounted engine from a CBR1000RR Fireblade.
Last time we checked, the latest 999cc generation of the legendary Fireblade threw out 189bhp at 13,000rpm, so the 2018 Mean Mower should get a serious shift on. The Mean Mower MkI only used a 109bhp V-twin, so despite aerodynamics’ increased influence at high speed we’re expecting the MkII to smash the current record into tiny bits.
It will, as per the rules, still be able to mow grass. The build, this time based on a HF 2622 mower with a custom chassis, will be driven by rising Honda racing talent Jessica Hawkins. Expect more soon.
