A Hot Dacia Sandero RS Is Actually Happening

We’ve said before that a Renaultsport version of the Dacia Sandero would be brilliant, but now we know that it’s actually happening. Sort of. While the above teaser confirms such a thing will be built, it also reveals that it’ll be badged as a ‘Renault’ - as Dacias are in emerging markets. The line ‘surprise for Latin America’ is also used in the video title. In other words, we won’t get one here in the UK, and neither will much of the rest of Europe. Boo.

Details are scarce at the moment, but this should be an interesting car - Renaultsport is a company that knows a thing or two about turning regular hatchbacks into incredible driver’s cars, after all. Engine-wise, the 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated four-pot available in the Dacia Duster in certain markets could be an option.
