The Hulk Settles For Force India After Maldonado Bags Lotus Seat
Highly-rated driver Nico Hulkenberg will return to Force India after signing a multi-year deal
Nico Hulkenberg's future in F1 has been widely speculated in the paddock, but now we have official confirmation that he will return to Force India for 2014. He was linked to Kimi Raikkonen's Lotus seat for some time, but the team chose to go for Pastor Maldonado.
The German last raced for Force India at the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix, where he finished in fifth place. He joined the Silverstone-based outfit at the start of 2011 as its reserve and test driver before being promoted the following season.
The 26-year-old has signed a multi-year deal to return to Force India just one year after leaving the team to move to Sauber.
Regarding the announcement, Nico said:
"I am happy to come back to Sahara Force India. The team is aiming high for next year and I believe that the experience I have gained over the years will help us achieve those goals. I genuinely believe we can have a competitive package in 2014. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about the Mercedes engine as well, so I think there is a lot to be excited about for next year."
