Hyundai Equus Caught Live

News about Hyundai's Equus sedan just keeps pouring on out! At this point, I'd be more shocked to hear it's not coming to the United States. A user on Flickr has posted pictures of the Equus, and wow it's nice!

Apparently Alex Krafcik, the photographer taking these pictures, got to take pictures of the vehicle inside and out. I wonder how he was able to do that in a residential setting and everything like that? I'm going to have to ask and see! I just want to say though; what a phenomenal job with these pictures. Detail shots, interior shots; everything looks superb.

The Equus looks even better in "real life" pictures then it does in automaker-supplied press shots. An upscale design to be sure, it's very upscale without being gaudy. I think Hyundai struck the right balance here. I'm not sure about that hood ornament though....

So needless to say, I can admit to being really impressed with this car. Inside and out it looks like a real contender in the high-end luxury segment. To judge whether it will be commerically successful, we have to find what will be it's differentiating factor.

What reason does the Equus give you to purchase it rather than one of the segment leaders that have garnered respect from the market for so long? I could definitely see this car doing well if priced significantly less, but not so much if it is priced similarly. I think that will be a big stretch for Hyundai at this point.
