If You Can't Afford A Merc G63 6x6, Try On The Defender-Based Kahn Flying Huntsman For Size

Adding more wheels to something usually makes it cooler. We don’t make the rules, that’s just how the world works. Just check out the crazy Mercedes G63 6x6. However, as the Merc is a little bit pricey, what are you to do if you want a little six-wheeled action of your own? Kahn Design might just have the answer. The purveyor of not-always-tasteful bodykits has come out with perhaps its craziest project yet: the Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6x6.

Not the catchiest of names, but just look at it. It was a Land Rover Defender 110 once upon a time, but it’s a little different now. The rear cabin has been extended by 800mm to accommodate the extra pair of wheels, while the bonnet has been lengthened by 400mm. Oh, and it’s 150mm wider for good measure.

All that extra metal will have no doubt given the Huntsman a rather beefy weight figure, but it should still move fairly swiftly: the elongated bonnet hides a 6.2-litre, 430bhp GM LS3 V8. It’ll hopefully be handy off road, too, with locking differentials, a high/low ratio drive system and uprated suspension.

This is just a concept for now, but Kahn is already talking about production versions. There’s no word on what sort of price to expect, but hopefully it’ll be a little more affordable than the near-£400k G63 6x6, which is going out of production soon.

The concept will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show tomorrow.
