If You Don’t Adore This Honda S800 ‘Outlaw’ We Can’t Be Friends

Honda’s SEMA stand has been suitably livened up by a tastefully modified S800 from actor and producer Daniel Wu

The S800 is one of the prettiest cars Honda has ever made. It’s a dainty, elegant car that’s about as far away from being aggressive as is possible. But with the right kind of alterations, it is possible to make it look like an angry so-and-so without ruining the whole thing.

This S800 ‘Outlaw’ can be found on Honda’s stand at this year’s SEMA show. The car - which we’re rather partial to - is the work of actor and producer Daniel Wu of Into The Badlands/Tomb Raider Fame.

When he’s not busy kicking wholesale ass on screen, Wu’s hardcore into cars. At SEMA a couple of years ago, we spent a great deal of time drooling over ‘The Tanto’, his especially lovely Datsun 510. The S800 Outlaw might just have topped the Datsun, however.

It’s wearing a bodykit from Pandem’s widebody maestro Kei Miura, which adds a whopping 100mm of width to the S800. Inside the wickedly flared arches sit banded versions of the standard steel wheels, now sporting Toyo R888R semi-slick tyres. Some Avo coilovers, meanwhile, have dropped the ride height by about 50mm. Inside, you’ll find a custom red leather interior.

An engine swap was considered, but Wu instead decided to keep the standard 8000rpm-capable 791cc inline-four, having it rebuilt to “new condition”. It has a new set of lungs thanks to a custom centre-exit exhaust system built by GReddy.

The car is on display at SEMA now, helping Honda’s stand - which also features a rear-drive-converted drift Civic - become one of the top ogling spots of the show.

If staff of Ghost games aren’t at SEMA getting inspiration for NFS Heat DLC ideas, they’re missing a trick. This needs to be in the game.

More to the point, if this doesn’t win the Gran Turismo SEMA prize, I’ll eat my hat.

Speaking of Gran Turismo SEMA prize….. How many cars make it into their games anyway?

The wheels and arches seem to be slightly too wide, and the yellow tint on the headlights is not to my taste, but otherwise I love this!
