If you have a cool car worth protecting but don’t have a garage, your options are pretty limited. Renting one nearby is impractical and prohibitively expensive, while a car cover can be an utter faff to get on and off, and offers little in the way of security, other than disguising your nice car to would-be thieves.

However, a Chinese firm catchily called Shanghai Chaoye Energy and Technology Co., Limited has created a third way in the form of this solar-powered ‘retractable car garage’. It looks incredibly easy to use, and could potentially be quite secure. It’s not the first product of this ilk we’ve seen, but it certainly looks like one of the neatest.
