If You Really Love Canada, This Is The McLaren 570S For You
McLaren has announced a five-car limited run of MSO ‘Canada Commission’ 570S Spiders, to celebrate its history in the North American country.
All will be sold in Canada; three through McLaren Toronto and one each through McLaren Montreal and McLaren Vancouver.
Designed through McLaren Special Operations’ Bespoke programme, the base is a Silica White body with red carbonfibre exterior trim. On top of that there are additional carbonfibre exterior packs normally found on the options list.
The 570S logos on the door ‘blades’ have been replaced with white Canadian flags, while at the back the tail is trimmed with a white maple leaf design. The wheels are standard 570S fare in Stealth finish, while the interior is a mix of black leather and Alcantara with a red Alcantara headlining. Remember: Alcantara is capitalised because it’s a brand…
The engine is unchanged from any other factory 570S. The 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 hits the rear tyres with 562bhp and 443lb ft, making it good for 204mph and 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds. With the roof down, the extra drag limits the top speed to 196mph. Dang.
In case you’re wondering, McLaren’s history in Canada includes Bruce McLaren himself winning three races in a row during the 1966 Canadian Sportscar Championship in a McLaren M1B, a 1-2 at the 1968 Canadian Grand Prix and a 1-2-3 in the opening round of the 1969 Can-Am Challenge.
The price for a 570S Spider Canada Commission is $353,206 (that’s Canadian dollars) before shipping, pre-delivery inspection and taxes…
