If You Want To Off Road Like A Boss While Keeping Your iPad Safe, The Skoda Yeti Xtreme Is For You
When we drove the Skoda Yeti Outdoor, we were rather impressed with the car's off-roading abilities. There's only so much it can do, however, so if you want a Yeti that can cope with more taxing off-roading demands, how about this: the Yeti Xtreme. Like yesterday's CitiJet concept, it's one of the concepts that Skoda will be bringing along to next weekend's Wörthersee VW show.
Along with the yellow-green roof and wheels, the most obvious exterior change is a set of chunky off-road tyres, while the ride height is adjustable. On the inside, it's had a rally-style makeover including: Recaro bucket seats, a chequered aluminium floor, spare wheel in the boot, fire extinguisher, and weirdly, an iPad cradle.
Should you get stuck during some serious mud-plugging, there's even a pair of 'recovery tracks' to push under the wheels, and a shovel. Oh, and a Thermos flask, should you fancy a hot beverage while you ponder how best to get your Yeti unstuck. Thoughtful, no?
Under the bonnet, you get a 1.8-litre TSI engine producing 150bhp, which is enough to propel the Xtreme from 0-62mph in a respectable nine seconds. The exhaust silencers have been removed, too, to give the Yeti a 'throatier' sound.
It's been a mixed bag of concepts so far for this year's Wörthersee show, but we rather like this one. What do you think?
