I'm Going On The 2015 Gumball 3000 Rally, And You're Coming With Me

Last year I rocked up to the Gumball 3000 Rally in Central London with resident CT designer James, ready to spend a normal afternoon as a car fan soaking in the sights and sounds of the craziest journey you can do as a petrolhead. In four hours, I saw thousands of people lining busy streets, climbing up lampposts and scaling scaffolding just to get a glimpse of the famous faces and ballistic vehicles on display.

This year, I won’t just be a regular observer. Nope, I’ll actually be taking part.

Last year, the Rally saw participants race from Miami to Ibiza, and this year, the journey is equally as enthralling. Over 3000 miles, I’ll be travelling from Stockholm, passing through Oslo, Copenhagen and Amsterdam, before jumping on a chartered Gumball jet to Reno, where the convoy will pass by San Francisco and Los Angeles before finishing up in Sin City, Las Vegas. Epic is the only word I think can describe it.

I’ll be riding with Team AnastasiaDate and AsianDate for the duration of the Rally and hopefully getting some time behind the wheel of their two 1969 Camaro Z/28s. For those not in the know, the Z/28 is potentially the greatest muscle car of all time; a big block V8 out the front driving the rear wheels and a 4-speed manual gearbox transmission. Official output figures for the Z/28 is said to be 290hp although in reality, some see over 350hp.

To say I’m excited would be playing it down. I’m literally buzzing off my chair as I write this from the confines of the Car Throttle office. And the best part of this year’s Gumball is that I’m going to take you on the journey with me! I’ll be vlogging daily and uploading videos directly onto our platform, so make sure you keep checking carthrottle.com daily to follow my adventures.

And of course what would Gumball 3000 be without the celebrities? This year, Gumball regular Deadmau5 will be driving his Ace of Spades Meowclaren, David Hasselhoff will be back riding KITT, Jon Olsson will be piloting his Audi RS6 DTM, Shmee will be rocking his Mantis 650S and wonderboy himself Lewis Hamilton will be taking part in the US leg from Los Angeles to Las Vegas!
