Infiniti QX Caught Undisguised

Of the three main Japanese luxury brands Lexus, Acura and Infiniti, there has been one that stands out apart from the rest. That brand would have to be Infiniti. Compared to the others, they have aggressively moved to compete with the German brands, producing stellar vehicles like the original G35 and G37 followup and recently-introduced M sedan at Pebble Beach. What's next for the brand? Apparently, a new SUV.
And a nice looking luxury SUV at that! From what I can see, the new Infiniti look really works on the next-generation QX. Very upscale and imposing, I could see this being a success whereas the current QX56 has not been. Not that the dismal sales have been a wonder either; it's too similar to the Armada and doesn't offer a compelling package.
The new QX will again have a Nissan platform mate (the Patrol) but it's not certain that the Nissan model will be sold in the United States. The QX's future seems secure but the Armada's does not. This would be better off - Nissan doesn't need the Armada in the United States but Infiniti could make the new QX into a profitable model if done right.
I like it when an automakers sticks to something and works to make it a success. With a comprehensive upgrade, Infiniti plans the new QX to take aim at Land Rover. That will be a tall order for sure, but I do like what I'm seeing with the front end styling so far. Rear? Not so much, but I have to see more - it's far too early to tell.
