Infiniti's Hot New Q60 Concept Is A Striking Coupe That Could Give The Germans A Headache

When was the last time you saw an Infiniti on the road? If you live in Europe, you might struggle to remember. Nissan’s luxury brand still has a rather tiny market share on this continent, with a product range which has thus far failed to steal significant sales from the established German brands. However, the new Q60 concept hints at the company finally coming up with products to worry the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes.

This curvaceous two-door previews an upcoming Q50 saloon-based 2+2 that’ll rival the BMW 4-series and Audi A5. Infiniti already has something badged ‘Q60’ in its current range, but that machine is little more than a renamed G37 (below), a car that’s rather past its sell-by-date.

Assuming the production version of the new coupe doesn’t change too much from this comely concept, Infiniti will have itself a far more appropriate tool to realise the firm’s goal of tempting more of us Europeans behind the wheel of its motors.

It’ll lose the giant 21-inch wheels and those slender wing mirrors - of course - although hopefully much of the striking coupe’s design will stay as is. On the inside, it’s rocking a cabin laced with carbonfibre and alcantara, which hasn’t been revealed yet. Boo.

We’ll be able to see more of the car when it makes its public debut at the Detroit motor show next week.
