You might well have seen the above image doing the rounds on social media. The sight of a car embedded in a driving school is unintentional comedy gold, but as it turns out, the story behind it all is even more interesting than you might imagine.

That’s because the Hyundai Tucson which smashed into Community Driving School in Lakewood, Colorado last Tuesday - knocking over a wall and shattering a big window in the process - was driven by one of the instructors on the payroll. On day two of the job. Ah.

Denver7 spoke to Steve Rohman, owner of the Community Driving School, who confirmed the employee was only on his second day. They were due to carry out the classroom-based part of his training course when they came crashing through the wall, which is certainly one way to look keen.

The Tucson was the employee’s own vehicle rather than one of the school’s own, Rohman said. And they’re also now, unsurprisingly, an ex-employee. In case you’re wondering, the briefly employed instructor doesn’t seem to be indicative of the quality of instruction at Community Driving School - the establishment enjoys a 4.8-star rating on Google. You don’t get those kinds of scores by routinely employing instructors who crash into solid objects. See the above image to see what the place looks like when it doesn't have a car hanging out of it.

According to Lakewood Police Department, only one person received a minor injury, and “several people were able to dive out of harms [sic] way,” which paints a rather chaotic picture of the moments just before the crash. The driver was slapped with a traffic violation.
