It's Official: An All-Electric Aston Martin Is Going Into Production
Over a year and a half since Aston Martin revealed its all-electric RapidE concept, Gaydon has finally confirmed a production version.
Details are fairly limited right now, but we do know that it’ll be based on the hot Rapide AMR, and limited to just 155 units which will be built in 2019. Aston Martin is promising the car will “deliver four-door sports car looks and dynamics of the Rapide S,” but will an all-electric drivetrain replacing the 5.9-litre V12.
It’ll be developed in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering, and although there’s no talk of power figures just yet, we’re expecting it to be at least as powerful as the 552bhp Rapide S. When the concept was released, Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer touted the idea of an 800 - 1000bhp, range-topping ‘performance’ version.
Speaking about the production RapidE, Palmer said:
“RapidE represents a sustainable future in which Aston Martin’s values of seductive style and supreme performance don’t merely co-exist alongside a new zero-emission powertrain, but are enhanced by it.”

Erm, 800-1000hp is a whoooole lot of horses! I guess the electric shift is really starting to pick up speed now, gee
Lets not forget mercedes tried this with the SLS. Didn’t turn out too well.
Let’s just hope it’s gonna be a complete f*ck-up and that they forget about EV’s

i think an electric car with a standard transmission would be fun, maybe you could save on battery usage?
