It's Official: A Mercedes-AMG 'GT C' Roadster Is On The Way

Mercedes has now officially confirmed that the long-rumoured drop-top version of the AMG GT is on the way

In what’ll probably end up being the least surprising bit of car news this week, Mercedes has confirmed via a teaser video that it’ll be lopping the roof off its AMG GT coupe.

It’s been rumoured for a while, test mules have been spotted, and even AMG big cheese Tobias Moers has been quoted as saying that a soft top GT should be expected. But still, official confirmation is always nice.

It's Official: A Mercedes-AMG 'GT C' Roadster Is On The Way

It’s anticipated that it’ll be revealed fully at the Paris Motor Show this month, although if you’re impatient, the world’s Internet car renderers have your back, since most of them had Photoshopped a drop top version approximately 19 seconds after the coupe was revealed. While I think the AMG GT-C looks great, I think that maybe it looks sexier with the top on…

That one has late 90’s early 2000 wheels for a start. The tops of the doors are a lot lower, the front of the car is more sloped, the windscreen is at a different angle, the back isn’t so kicked up, the interior is turn of the century red, the headlights are completely different, the rear lights are a lot thinner, the lines aare a lot more obvious, the air vent is a completely different size and shape…

Do I need to go on?

Is there any point to the SL now?

In my eyes yes. The GT series is Mercedes-AMGs sports car, while the SL is the Grand Tourer
