Jaguar R Performance Academy
It's not uncommon to have some sort of a performance driving course or academy when you're an automaker that is focused on performance.
It's not uncommon to have some sort of a performance driving course or academy when you're an automaker that is focused on performance.
For instance, BMW has many different courses, particularly the "M School" series. It is Jaguar's turn now, with an announcement about a R Performance Academy.
The XFR in particular has been in the news a lot lately, but not for the right reasons. The CTS-V Challenge turned out to be a debacle for Jaguar, after Jaguar's lawyers put the XFR loan to Jalopnik's Wes Siler on ice.
Some of the ensuing comments by Jaguar didn't exactly incite confidence in the car's ability to do any track time, but they might be trying to rectify that with this program. It certainly is interestingly timed!
Unlike others, Jaguar's R Performance Academy comes complimentary with the purchase of a new Jaguar XKR or XFR. Jaguar says"You will have the opportunity to explore the limits of your new R vehicle including maximum acceleration, braking, cornering and dynamic maneuvers.
You will experience the differences traction and stability control systems provide. There will be opportunities to learn the safety benefits of the various settings for these systems including what happens when you turn them off."
Jaguar has dates planned from December of 2009 to 2010 at four race tracks around the country. They include the Homestead Miami Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Club Speedway, Auto Club Speedway and - you guessed it, the Monticello Motor Club. If you've got a 2010 XKR or XFR and are interested, head over to Jaguar's R Performance Academy registration page to start.
