James May And Richard Hammond Have Refused To Film Top Gear Without Jeremy Clarkson

We were all gutted when the BBC postponed the rest of this series of Top Gear, but it appears that the show could have carried on without the suspended Jeremy Clarkson. Fortunately for fans of the show, James May and Richard Hammond refused to do the show without him.

A BBC executive told The Mirror that discussions were held about having Clarkson’s co-hosts filming a few short studio segments, filling the show with mostly pre-recorded segments.

One of the main appeals of Top Gear is the banter between the trio, and while most people probably wouldn’t mind an episode without the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car, the ‘news’ segment is a firm fan favourite.

It was also revealed that Jeremy Clarkson’s fate is in the hands of BBC Director General Tony Hall, and The Mirror’s source claimed those inside the BBC are becoming increasingly frustrated that “Clarkson’s friends continue to pour pressure on the BBC.”

The investigation is currently underway, with both Clarkson and producer Oisin Tymon having given statements to the BBC. While we wait to hear the outcome, it’s great to see that the three presenters are as close in real life as they are on screen.
