The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Costs More Than A Dodge Demon

We love the silliness of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. What’s not to love about the concept of stuffing the Challenger/Charger Hellcat V8 into a high-riding SUV?

The only trouble is, this 6.2-litre, supercharged slice of four-wheel drive freedom does not come cheap. Jeep has revealed this week that the Trackhawk will retail at $85,900 MSRP (plus $1095 destination charge) - around $18,000 more than the 6.4-litre-powered SRT model, and just a smidge more than a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.

OK, so the Demon isn’t exactly a comparable car, but it does show just how pricey this thing is. Then again, it’s still a lot cheaper than something like a BMW X5M ($101,695), which is slower, and doesn’t have the same commendable air of ridiculousness.

As a reminder, thanks to the wonders of four-wheel drive traction and a launch control system, the 697bhp (707hp) hulk will dispatch 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, topping out at 180mph. Jeep claims it’s the quickest production SUV ever.

It’s so fast off the line that it can beat a surprising array of exotic cars, and even the Hellcat twins with which it shares an engine.

Prospective Trackhawk customers will be able to order the car via their local Jeep dealer from 10 August, with the first cars arriving in showrooms during the fourth quarter of 2017.
