Jeremy Clarkson has been told by the BBC that he will be sacked if he makes "one more offensive remark, anywhere, at any time." The Top Gear presenter was reprimanded following leaked footage of him allegedly saying 'the n word' during filming, an allegation he strenuously denied.

Clarkson revealed his warning in his column for The Sun, in which he again says that he never used the word. This comes after he tweeted a video clip in which he denied using the word, saying he deliberately mumbled that part of the 'Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe' children's rhyme as he did not feel comfortable saying it.

Of concern to the millions of Top Gear fans around the world, is the fact that his response sounds like he is resigned to the fact that his days are numbered:

"And even the angel Gabriel would struggle to survive with that hanging over his head. It's inevitable that one day, someone, somewhere will say that I've offended them, and that will be that."

A BBC statement reads:

"Jeremy Clarkson has set out the background to this regrettable episode. We have made it absolutely clear to him the standards the BBC expects on air and off. We have left him in no doubt about how seriously we view this."

It has received more than 300 complaints about the recording since The Mirror revealed it on Thursday, and with Clarkson on his final warning, we can be sure that those who dislike him will be hanging on his every word in the future. Let's just hope he doesn't let this stifle the humour for which we all love him.
