It’s an emotional rollercoaster for fans of Top Gear at the moment. Jeremy Clarkson, the show’s controversial host, has been suspended for more than two weeks, since he told BBC bosses he’d punched a producer after a day of filming. Last night it was reported that he will indeed be sacked for his part in the scuffle, however today that’s looking less clear.

The 54-year-old presenter tweeted this morning, saying ‘I haven’t heard a thing’. Furthermore, the BBC claims that there has been no final decision on Clarkson’s fate, saying “When we have an outcome, we will announce it.”

One of the men touted as favourite to take Clarkson’s place is Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, however the famous petrolhead used his breakfast show to claim rumours he’s being lined up to present Top Gear as ‘absolute nonsense’.

Speaking this morning, he said:

“Not only is it not true, it’s absolute nonsense.

“Looking on Twitter, there’s a 50/50 split about me being in the show would be a good idea.

We’re still awaiting final confirmation from the BBC about Jeremy Clarkson’s fate, but in the meantime it’s impossible to predict which way this will go.
