Nearly a year has passed since the infamous steak-related fracas, and Jeremy Clarkson has finally issued an official apology to former Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon.

The apology has come at the end of a racial discrimination and personal injury claim that has been ongoing since November. Tymon, a well respected member of the Top Gear team, brought the claim after allegedly being called a “lazy, Irish c**t” by Clarkson at a hotel in Hawes, North Yorkshire. The producer was also assaulted during the incident after Clarkson was informed that he could not order a sirloin steak after a long day of filming. It is now understood that a settlement of £100,000 has been reached.

Through his lawyers, Clarkson has now expressed his regret:

“I would like to say sorry, once again, to Oisin Tymon for the incident and its regrettable aftermath.

“I want to reiterate that none of this was in any way his fault.

“I would also like to make it clear that the abuse he has suffered since the incident is unwarranted and I am sorry too that he has had to go through that.

“I am pleased that this matter is now resolved. Oisin was always a creatively exciting part of Top Gear and I wish him every success with his future projects.”

In response, Tymon’s Lawyer, Paul Daniels, issued a statement declaring the end of legal action:

“The action involving Mr Tymon has been concluded. Oisin is keen to put the matter behind him now that it has been brought to a close. Oisin greatly appreciates all of the support he has received, including from the BBC. He remains focused on the creative work he loves at the BBC.”

Hopefully both parties can now put this incident behind them and focus on their new projects, drawing a line under an unfortunate episode that had huge ramifications for petrolheads.

Those 100k that he won, they’ll be gone in no time. He has to pay his lawyers. So in the end he would be in the same spot he was before Jeremy punch him.

Clarkson didn’t punched him because he was s minority. He punched him because there was no food. If anything, it would have been racist NOT to punch him.

Sometimes you just gotta punch a merFer. If you hit them hard enough they wont remember enough facts to bring a lawsuit. Therefore my lesson is “Work on the right hook”.
