John Cena Is Fighting Back Against Ford's 'No Resale' Lawsuit
WWE superstar John Cena is fighting back against a lawsuit slapped on him by Ford, after he flipped his GT for a huge profit just two weeks after taking delivery.
As we reported a couple of months ago, Ford claims to have told buyers of the ultra-desirable new GT that they weren’t allowed to sell them for at least two years. When Cena sold his, Ford issued a legal smackdown. But the wrestler is fighting back.
According to a report in celebrity web-magazine TMZ, Cena says he’s done nothing wrong. In new court papers that have come to light, his lawyers counter-claim that Ford didn’t put the ‘no sell-on’ clause into the final contract and that they’ve got no right to sue for damages. The documents ask the court to throw the case out completely.
Ford is said to be squeezing Cena for every cent that he made in profit by flipping the car to a new buyer, but the all-American ring king says they can forget it. This may rumble on for some time…

Legal or not, it’s still a scumbag thing to do. And I would have never expect it from John Cena.
Yeah…
It’s not a scumbag thing. Without people flipping supercars and exotics like that, the market for that kinda car would dwindle. Automakers rely on collectors that buy and sell them to each other. I know that’s hard to hear as a petrol head, but let’s face it- the vast majority of people who complain about how people buy and sell supercars, are people who can’t even afford a new Honda… so in the world of supercars, their opinions mean very little. Not being rude, just saying that’s how it is.
The man bought a car. He then had an opportunity to sell it for more than he bought it for. That’s not a scumbag thing to do, that’s just being smart with your money. The additional value probably has as much to do with the fact that it was owned by a celebrity, as the car itself. Ford sold these limited run cars to high profile people in hopes that they’d be seen in them, and their association with a popular figure would help drive sales.
Ford is just upset that Cena flipped the car too quickly to be seen turning up at events in it, or appearing in a lot of paparazzi photos driving it, and that’s why the story is breaking in TMZ, rather than, say, the Wallstreet Journal. They banked on publicity, and by god, they’re going to get it, the legal concept of the doctrine of first sale be damned.
You don’t know what you’re talking about
After all the trouble of them accepting customers “chosen ones”, I cant blame Ford.
If he can win a wrestling Match like this, lawyers should be a piece of cake.
It’s fake kid 😂😂
What else do you expect from someone whos carrer involves getting hit over the head
Where is John Cena? I cant see anything
Wow, TMZ… SUCH a RELIABLE “source”

Someone should give you English
To be honest i’m with cena of this one. I dont like flippers all that much either but if i place an order for a vehicle that should be best in its class and it comes and i’m 500k deep getting my ass handed to me by a 100k vette exclusive or not i’m going to be pissed. Especially after all the crap these suckers had to go through with ford to get them. If Ford didn’t want this happening they could have played smart like Porche or Lamborghini, make the car the best you can and let it do the talking. Only manufacturers that dont have faith in their product would outright force somebody to keep it.
By that logic all lamborghini owners except the performante owners, all porsche owners except the gt2rs,all ferrari owners should sell their cars since the zr1 is faster for less money ……………….
There’s a lot more to a car than outright speed . I’d also like to add that the zr1 lap at vir was an actual attempt at a lap record while ford were just testing the car with lap times not being the main focus . Also the zr1 is newer than the gt . If you look at the some of the tech that went into the gt that price becomes perfectly justifiable it’s closer to a race car than any other car on the road . It’s faster than the more powerful and lighter mclaren 675lt , it’s faster than the 918 which costs almost twice as much . The GT dominated the daytona 24 a few weeks back easily lapping the rest of the field and that is despite it being BOP’d to be the heaviest car of the field, run the lowest boost of all the turbo cars and have the highest minimum angle of attack rear wing which isn’t very good
at daytona
He signed a contract AND the car was gifted to him. I’m not with Cena because he knew exactly what he signed on the day.
