Have you ever looked at a McLaren P1 and thought ‘that could do with a little bit extra’? Well someone did, so McLaren has unveiled its bespoke version of the P1 hybrid hypercar, which will go on display at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

McLaren Special Operations is the company’s personalisation arm, offering bespoke vehicles to incredibly rich customers. This particular car was commissioned by a North American customer, and features a slick Sterling Grey paint job with carbonfibre accents. Throughout the rest of the car you’ll find a number of parts finished in the manufacturer’s historic orange colour, including the brake calipers and P1 logos.

The engine bay and exhaust have been coated in a 24-carat gold heatshield as a nod to the original McLaren F1, but no performance modifications have been made. Not that they’re needed; the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 and electric motor create a massive 903bhp, which gives the hypercar a top speed of 217mph.

The interior of this unique P1 has been lavished with carbonfibre and Alcantara, and four-point harnesses have been fitted to the lightweight bucket seats - just in case you were under any illusion about this car’s race car credentials.

Bespoke models like this vary in price, but an estimate for this car and personalisation will undoubtedly see it costing in excess of £1m.
