Kia is already known as a manufacturer that makes good-looking cars, but things could be about to take another step up if this new teaser is any guide.

This front profile view of the car, whose name has not yet been released, shows a sharply sculpted bonnet with interesting side vents, flared wheel arches, camera-type door ‘mirrors’ and a wildly distinctive LED light signature. The Kia logo is illuminated as well, while the robotic-looking face casts light down onto an aggressive, protruding front skirt.

As well as style the car promises to address the long-standing issues not just of range and performance, but also handling – an EV weak spot because of their weight.

Gregory Guillaume, vice president of Kia’s European design department said:

“Automotive design is about capturing the heart and making it beat that bit faster for that bit longer – and we believe that there’s absolutely no reason why that should change simply because the car is electric.

“We imagined designing an all-electric car that not only answered consumer concerns around range, performance, recharging networks and driving dynamism, but one that also gave you goosebumps when you looked at it, and made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when you drove it.”

It looks like there’s a fair amount of negative camber on the front wheels, which themselves are pushed outwards as far as they’ll go while leaving arch clearance. There’s no grille, as per the aero-centric EV norm, but in this design it’s the perfect place for a number plate.

Power and performance data is still secret. What do you make of it? Is the age of the desirable EV finally dawning?

there’s only three things i get goosebumps from: good music (including exhaust notes), scary movies and when someone tickles my back; and this does neither.

Tbh, Kia has been out to throw hands with the whole car market for a few years now. If this follows their recent trends, ot should be pretty epic

I just won’t be able to like a car with no great exhaust note…… Please at least make a hybrid version.

Meh. Very few cars look good anymore. Most just look like copies of whatever else is on the market. This is really no different.
