Kimi Raikkonen Is Staying At Ferrari For The 2017 F1 Season

There’d been a bit of speculation recently about who could potentially replace Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari for F1 2017 but now we know who it will be – no one, as Ferrari has kept the Iceman for another year

Kimi Raikkonen is staying at Ferrari for F1 2017. It’s confirmed and official, so the speculation over who could potentially replace him will undoubtedly switch to 2018 in the near future.

The Iceman’s recent form has been decent; he’s scored four podiums in 2016 and is level on points with Sebastian Vettel, although that is in part due to his team-mate’s bad luck and reliability issues. It clearly works well for Ferrari and both Vettel and Raikkonen get on well, so it’s not all that surprising that they have decided to get things locked down early and retain the line-up.

Kimi Raikkonen Is Staying At Ferrari For The 2017 F1 Season

There’d been quite a lot of speculation over what Ferrari could do, with Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, Carlos Sainz Jr. and Daniel Ricciardo being linked to the second seat at the Scuderia. But fortunately for us we’ll have another F1 season of brilliant Kimi quotes, reactions, facial expressions and interviews – maybe he’ll let us interview him again? He recently chatted to Alex about all things F1 and more, which you can see below.

Prior to that chat he’d actually broke the autonomous Shell car while Alex was a passenger. That probably proved to be quite a good icebreaker.

With Raikkonen’s future now secured, seats at the front of the field are being filled pretty fast. There are still question marks over Nico Rosberg’s spot at Mercedes, likewise Jenson Button at McLaren. Meanwhile the vast majority of the midfield drives are still yet to be decided.

What do you make of Ferrari’s decision? Are you happy or would you have liked to see them go for someone new to the team? Let us know below!

How to Ferrari:
1-Complain about Kimi all the time
2-Threat to ditch him all the way until the middle of the season
3-Watch him have good results
4-Keep him for another year
5-Return to step 1

I am very happy for Kimi, I think he is a good second driver for Ferrari, but I’ve liked to see Bottas or Hulkemberg in a top team

I’d say Perez has really proven himself this lasts seasons, and Sainz could do really well although I want him to be Verstappen’s once again
