Lamborghini Working On Open-Cockpit Hypercar, Because Apparently We Need More Of Those
The realm of roofless, windscreen-less supercars has to be one of the silliest automotive niches there is, but that hasn’t stopped manufacturers lining up to build there own. Currently vying for the business of the average obscenely rich car collector is the Aston Martin V12 Speedster and the McLaren Elva, both of which follow the now sold out Ferrari SP1 & SP2. And now, Lamborghini wants in on the action.
It’s been here before, of course, with the Aventador J. That was merely a concept, but we wouldn’t put it past Lamborghini to put the car you see above into production.
The image was posted on the Lamborghini Squadra Course Facebook page, and although the quality isn’t great, we can see it has ‘Attenzione…macchina veloce aperta’ written on the side (also noted in the post’s caption, to save the squinting). This translates to “Attention, fast open machine”. Well, duh.
Although the car is camouflaged, we can see most of the bodywork detail. From the side (bar the lack of roof) it appears to match the Aventador SVJ, but it’s very different from anything else in the Lamborghini stable at the back. The rear deck and its buttresses, meanwhile, look similar to the arrangement found on the Lamborghini Sian Roadster (above).
In other words, Lamborghini hasn’t just taken a tin opener to an existing model - whatever this thing is, it’s a lot more bespoke than that. Should it be destined for production, we can expect a price tag of the seven-figure variety.

Aventador J: my time has come
So many open cockpit cars lately. Not complaining. I just hope coupes will receive the same treatment.
Also what happened today?
Issue with server communication (don’t know the ins and outs - bit beyond me!) Site was down from the early hours (UK time) until early afternoon. Annoying, but we haven’t had an outage like this in a long time.
Am I the only one likes these kinds of cars? They are beautiful in a way, brings back the the 50s open cockpit sports cars vibe.
Well, rich people certainly seem to like them.
