Lexus Leverages 100m User Instagram To Create IS F Sport Ad

It's about time car manufacturers truly embraced digital media. Thankfully, Lexus has stepped up...

With Facebook's novelty a distant past and Twitter embedding itself into everyday life, a new social network was needed to take advantage of the world's creativity. Hello, Instagram. With over 100 million users worldwide, the car industry has jumped on the bandwagon for a world first: the #LexusInstafilm.

The widely popular photo sharing app has never been used to create a stop-motion film - or 'Insta-commercial' - before, with the unique video producing positively stunning results.

212 'Instagrammers' - some who had travelled thousands of miles to take part - gathered to create this epic short film, which was directed by Jacob Rosenberg and featured the sexy new 2014 Lexus IS F Sport. Only able to use their mobile phones and Instagram app, each individual was given a specific frame to take before they were all edited together in this awesomely creative video.

There was even a snazzy dolly-style camera movement that was created by a number of the participants being positioned in a semi-circle position. Each person had a specific spot to position their phone and a handy tripod meant that all the phones were in complete alignment.

The Lexus IS is on sale now and comes with the option of the hot F Sport package which includes sports suspension, 18-inch spoked wheels, fabric/Tahara upholstery, F Sport front bumper and grille, as well as a Lexus LFA-inspired gauge cluster.

With Lexus embracing Instagram with open arms, expect plenty of car manufacturers to follow suit as the app continues to build in popularity.
