Make Your New BMW 5-Series Or i5 Look Like This With M Performance Bits
You know the score by now. A new BMW model comes out, and not long after, a whole host of M Performance parts emerges. And so it is for the new 5-series and i5, which receive a raft of interior and exterior trim pieces, new wheelsets, better brakes and some accessories. Lovely.
Kicking off the exterior upgrades, there are side skirt attachments, which you can pair with ‘accent stripes’ should you wish, plus ‘side skirt films’ which feature what BMW calls a “striking curved line in matt grey”. A bit much, perhaps? We’ll let you decide on that one.
At the front, you can have a new splitter which might make you a little more wary of speed bumps than before, while the rear can be upgraded with a three-part diffuser and a small spoiler. Rounding off the exterior trim pieces is an antenna cover, mirror caps and a fuel filler cap cover. The latter sticks to the existing filler cap with double-sided tape, which doesn’t sound like the most elegant solution for an official OEM upgrade, does it?
All of these are made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic, apart from the antenna cover, which is made from aramid fibres for the sake of “electromagnetic permeability”.
The wheelsets come in 19 and 21-inch diameter forms, and if you’re after a spare set to shod in winter tyres, BMW will flog you some M Performance wheel bags in which to store whichever rims you aren’t using at the time. Assuming you have big enough wheels to accommodate, there’s also a 20-inch M Performance brake upgrade to fit underneath.
Interior upgrades include M Performance-branded treadplates (in carbon fibre, of course), and velour floor mats, and to finish things off, there’s a key case featuring Alcantara and carbon fibre-esque embossing. Neat.
Anything take your fancy?
