Manhart's 424bhp M235i Is A Brutal Track Weapon For People Who Can't Wait For The M2
A BMW 2-series that’s quicker than the current range-topping M235i is on the way, but it won’t be here until late next year. For now, we have to rely on tuners to get our quicker 2-series kicks, and if you’re a fan of track days, Manhart’s latest effort could be right up your street.
Dubbed the MH2 Clubsport, this M235i-based car features a larger intercooler, remapped ECU and a new exhaust system to boost the turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six’s power from 322bhp to 424bhp.
Acceleration figures (as well as prices) are yet to be revealed, but that should be enough to pull the 0-62mph time down to around four seconds. The electronic limiter has been binned, meanwhile, so the Clubsport will do over 186mph.
Manhart has gone to great lengths to turn this M235i into a hardcore track machine. Track-tuned three-way adjustable coilovers have gone in at each corner, while the interior is stripped back and features Recaro Pole Position seats with four-point harnesses in the front, and a large roll cage in the back. Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres are wrapped around the 19-inch wheels, behind which (at the front) are beefy six-pot brakes.
All these upgrades are part of an aftermarket tuning programme, so if you don’t want to turn your M235i into a track beast, it should be possible to spec the engine upgrades and leave off the hardcore suspension and interior options.
