Mark Webber Spills The Beans: Ricciardo Will Race For Red Bull F1 Team
Everybody’s favourite Australian, Formula 1 driver Mark Webber, has let the cat out of the bag and revealed who will replace him at Red Bull next season after he leaves to pursue silverware in endurance racing.
Webber is pretty well known for speaking his mind, and I’m sure few of us would have been too upset if he’d have launched his car straight into Vettel’s after the incident at the Malaysian Grand Prix earlier this year.
But it seems that he’s happy with disrupting his Red Bull team’s plans just with words, revealing to Australian Channel 10 that the decision has already been made to appoint Daniel Ricciardo as his successor despite team boss Christian Horner denying any deal is in place.
Webber said: “The decision is made. We all know who it is. I’m happy with that decision. It’s good for him and it’s good for Australia.” Safe to say it’s not Kimi Raikkonen, then.
But Horner has refused to admit what is fast-becoming the worst-kept secret in F1 history. He slapped Webber’s comments aside with: “There’s plenty of speculation about, but nothing has been signed yet. Mark obviously isn’t privy to all the discussions with drivers. When there’s something to announce, we’ll announce it.”
We get the feeling that Webber will have his knuckles rapped, but do we reckon that will stop him speaking his mind? Not a chance. Whatever happens with his replacement, we’re gutted to see him go.
