Marshal Sets Off Fire Extinguisher But Forgets Driver Is Still Inside

Helpful hint: If there's a fire, set off the extinguisher. If there isn't, don't...

DTM driver Dirk Werner had just crashed out after contact with Audi driver Jamie Green at the Zandvoort circuit. He was sitting in his car as a marshal ran over to assist him, but what happened next has become YouTube gold.

With the driver still sat in the car, the marshal appeared to press the fire extinguisher button on the outside of the car - despite there being no fire - which filled the car with smoke. Werner fortunately emerged from the car safely although he probably didn't appreciate the marshal's help.

The race commentators appeared to have a good old chuckle over the incident, although we doubt Werner found it very funny...

The German driver was competing in the penultimate round of the DTM series. The race was won by fellow BMW driver Augusto Farfus but all eyes were on Mike Rockenfeller in second place after he clinched the 2013 title.
