Martini And F1 Back In Business? We've Got Time For That
Martini, one of motorsport's most iconic sponsors, looks set to make a return to Formula 1 with the Williams F1 Team in 2014. The news comes as reports suggest that an agreement has been made for Martini to become the new title sponsor of the team.
Martini Racing originally entered F1 in 1972 with the Tecno team, but the drinks company pulled out of the sport at the end of the year after an unsuccessful campaign. It returned as a backer to the Brabham team in 1975, with its iconic stripes on a white background soon achieving worldwide fame.
It remained at Brabham until 1977, having changed from a white to a red background, before a short stint sponsoring the Lotus squad in 1979. Most recently, the company was a minor sponsor of Ferrari between 2006 and 2008. Outside of F1, Martini's famous colours have featured on touring cars and World Rally Championship contenders.
