What you’re currently looking at isn’t some sort of bonkers art project, it’s the result of a rather unfortunate accident in South Australia. According to the claims manager of RAA Insurance - who dealt with this unusual case - the owner of this Maserati Quattroporte swerved to miss a dog, sending a tin of paint which was resting on the back seat into a calamatous flight during which time the lid came off.

This coated all of the interior in a thick, gloopy coating of white paint. The total cost of the damage was pegged at $90,000 (£44,000); presumably the cost of completely refitting the cabin.

As such, the car was declared a write-off. However, this bizarre case got us thinking: at some point, this wrecked Maserati is going to be sold as spares or repair, which - if you don’t mind an interior encrusted with paint - might actually be a bit of a bargain…
