The Mazda RX-9 Could Be A 400bhp Rotary Weapon
After teasing the world with the RX-Vision concept earlier this year, Mazda has got the ball rolling again with plans to reveal a successor to the RX-8 at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.
Japanese website Holiday Auto has managed to get some inside information on the car, and the stats make for epic reading. The RX-9 could feature a 1.6-litre, twin-rotor turbocharged powertrain which should be good for at least 400bhp of rotary scream.
Those figures would make the RX-9 the most powerful production car ever produced by Mazda, but all this power will seemingly come at a cost. Estimations sit at around $80,000 (£60,500) which would make it nearly three-times the price of an RX-8. But for a return to rotary power for Mazda, I’m sure we’d be willing to pay the price!
Mazda has already trademarked the RX-9 badge, so fingers-crossed we will see a new rotary king by the end of the decade.

If they were to change the back end a little bit, I would gladly put myself in debt for that car😂
What is Japan’s obsession with huge ugly grills?
Yay, the BRAAAAAAAAAP is back!
Some say they are putting mounting points for an LSX from factory
Me: Sir, I can test drive new RX9. Dealer: Sure. BRAP!!! BRAAAAAAPPPP! BRAAAPPP!! Me: Sorry I got 10 dollars.
It’s amazing how they brought back a little bit of the RX-7 FD. The rear looks very similar. I’d love to drive that car… and in yellow it looks great!
It will be a Rotary Hybrid
80,000 is worth the car considering you will get a eargazim when you start it up
The design is also very nice but…it needs pop up headlights!!!
Maybe if this is as successful as we all hope it will be, Mazda might pull a Tesla and come out with a smaller less expensive model for us
