That McLaren 12C Vs Skater Video Was A Massive Fake
When a video showing a skater smashing the windscreen of a McLaren 12C in retaliation for its driver running a stop sign emerged last week, much of the world’s media - us included - took it at face value. After all, if it was staged, surely the cameraman might have actually bothered to get the car in frame during the crucial smashy bit, rather than miss it completely and film the whole damn thing vertically?
After a little digging though, An NBC 9 News reporter in Colorado has exposed the whole thing as staged. For starters, it emerged the uploader works for an exotic supercar company that happens to run an orange 12C, one reportedly spotted driving around with its windscreen already cracked prior to the skater ‘incident’. CCTV footage shot from another angle also appears to show the skater being signalled just before the 12C’s arrival, and finally, no reports were filed to local police for the incident.
Even though it’s now been exposed as a fake, the video will have already paid off rather handsomely for those behind it in the form of YouTube advertising revenue - it’s now on over nine million views.

So where do I bring my G-Wiz-battery-operated-car-that-costs-less-than-my-dignity?
Someone set it on fire. I run after that person. Couple million views. Later we meet up for a round of beers. I am paying! #PlanOfAction
Also, insurance fraud? “Oh yeah there’s amateur footage of the incident on youtube”
