The McLaren F1 Designer Is Launching His Own Brand
Gordon Murray, the man who designed the McLaren F1, is launching his own car brand. It’s doubly good news, too, because light weight is going to be at the heart of everything Gordon Murray Automotive builds.
Referencing the legendary F1 in a press release, Professor Murray explains that it will be low-volume production using the iStream construction process Murray himself developed and applied to several rubbish city car prototypes. He said:
“The new manufacturing business significantly expands the capabilities of our group of companies.
“With our first new car, we will demonstrate a return to the design and engineering principles that have made the McLaren F1 such an icon.”
Any chance of a whacking great BMW V12, then? Gordon…?
November will be a month of celebrations to mark several 2017 milestones. Murray’s 50th year in vehicle engineering and design joins his 10th year of running Gordon Murray Design. It’s also 25 years since the McLaren F1 entered production and it’s 10 years since iStream came into being.
There will be a special show next month where almost every road car that Murray designed will be brought together at the same time, including at least one F1. More details will surely follow.

But will it drift.
Is that all your concerned about
What he was saying to everyone else:
Gordon Ramsay launched a car brand? Oh wait wrong gordon
Would be awesome as the first model would be called Fuc**ng RAW 😅
The car gods have listen to my prayers!
I cant wait to see what Gordon Murray cooks up, i hope it has as many styling queues to the original F1. one of my favorite supercars.
Wow, just a sudden move into the industry is quite ballsy…but I’m sure if Murray sticks a big ‘ol BMW V12 into a lightweight sports car…he’ll be fine!
About time a new brand comes out! A new engine production would be amazing as well, instead of using an existing one.
I hope for cars looking like from ‘90 with some futuristic stuff on it. Some like Lamborghini Miura Bertone Concept. Classic lines with futuristic parts. I hope it would have fair price, around GT-RS price. Then more people can afford it and it would not be only for museum.
