McLaren Has Confirmed Its Fastest Road-Legal Car Ever

McLaren has confirmed the most extreme road-legal car in its history. Project P15, of which we brought you some details three months ago, will be even faster on track than the P1.

This will be the next new McLaren to arrive, beating the three-seat Project BP23 to the punch. Both, however, will be part of the Ultimate Series, McLaren’s fastest and most extreme cars.

P15, which will be a hyper-focused road-legal track car, will sacrifice everyday usability in favour of absolute performance, says McLaren. It will deliver “the most intensive driver experience around a circuit.” Design the company calls “brutal” will place going holy-mother-of-God fast at the very forefront of its aims.

For now, the limit of our fresh insight is this picture of a triple-hexagonal exhaust, over which we’re drooling heavily. McLaren has also confirmed that more details will be released before the end of this year. We can’t wait for those.

I feel like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Pagani are all about showing off. It looks to me like they simply abuse their history/reputation to gain more profits - the cars are amazing, but they could do so much better. Makes sense, since most owners I’ve met are not even into cars, all they care about is the fancy badge.

McLaren, on the other hand, is there to offer best performance and driving experience. Very little people would buy a McLaren for its badge. Well done, especially considering their first modern supercar was made just several years ago. And this upcoming hypercar seems like yet another leap forward ahead of the competitors, who are probably thinking how to apply some stickers to their current cars and sell them as limited editions for double the price…

McLaren. They’ve produced the MP4-12C and P1. Enough said.

They actually don’t. Ferrari uses tech from F1 for its road cars albeit downgraded a bit for its high end cars while using historical names to keep their trademark fresh. This is done to avoid loosing the name to another brand. Lamborghini IS all about showing off. Thats what that brand has become after Audi bought it. Pagani actually make their own Carbon fibres. Infact they supply those to F1 teams and aviation industry. But Pagani is the only one that makes a proper throwback car where a flick of a switch puts away every driver aid and puts you incharge of the complete driving and trust me thats very hard to achieve considering just how small Pagani is and even sticking to that niche. McLaren on the other hand are going up against road going rivals in terms of market value and performance ratio… so they have to make a car that adheres to road rules and offer it at a slightly lower price than their competitors to make the brand more appealing. That’s why McLarens are the only one amongst Ferrari and Lamborghini that make a more driver focused tech aided product.

F**K OFF DL!! I may agree with you about lambo’s but pagani and ferraris are simply amazing.Like jeremy once said”ferrari’s are smaller versions of god “.Ferrari’s have the most beautiful cars that sound the best and also have excellent brand heritage.AND THAT COUNTS.By your logic every car inthusiast should buy a miatas and supras make adjustments and you’ll get better performance for half the price of a mclaren.
BUT THAT’S NOT HOW CARS WORK. Pagani’s look the most radical without looking riced out(Like lambo’s do). Also, you can not judge a car buy the people who buy it.People by lambos and ferraris(non car guys) does not mean that the cars are for non car people.Top gears themselves had the ferrari 458 as the best supercar for a long time.(They made a challenge to get a supercar instead of the 458 and in the end all of them still wanted the ferrari.)
ALSO, TO CONCLUDE.
Take an example of the 488, from a carguys’s perspective.
It is one of the most beautiful cars ever made and definately looks better than its main rival the 720s
both have similar real life performance
Most reviewers who have reviewd both cars wil tell you that the ferrari is more usable in real life as well is more”lively”
My point being that a car mclaeen launched 3 years after the 488 has a hard time competing.
(Though the 720s has a lot more powe, maybe noticable on track)

Wow. It looks so original. I wonder how long McLaren took to decide if they should add aero or move the headlights an inch.

It’s a test mule….. it’s a car used to test the drive train and internal components inside of an already released car.

I’m not sure. The AM Valkyrie and Project One will probably be on another level completely. Unless this thing weighs under 1000kg (which knowing McLaren, isn’t too far-fetched), I don’t think it’d keep up. Although when you get to these speeds, who cares?

Looks like it is based off of the old 12c/650s/675LT platform. Wonder why they didn’t use the 720s instead?
