Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG Makes Pixelated Debut In Driveclub For PS4

You might've spotted this little gem in PlayStation 4's launch racer Driveclub...

Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 last week to a rapturous audience of geeks. Unfortunately we didn't get a good look at the console, but the highlight was the announcement of Driveclub, a racing game that should be available at launch. Mercedes took the opportunity to ride the wave of press exposure by unveiling the AMG version of their new CLA saloon.

The CLA 45 AMG will bung a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine out front that sends 360 horsepower through all four wheels, making it the most powerful four pot in production. As well as the hot CLA, Merc has also allowed Evolution Studios to chuck the A45 AMG in the game, and with similar power figures in a smaller frame it should be a hoot to handle.

Driveclub's aim is to make racing games more social, with integrated apps as well as the standard online racing modes. What makes this game cool is that you can set your mates and racers worldwide targets and challenges to compete for bragging rights. The game has been in development for the best part of a decade so fingers crossed it's as epic as all that work would imply.

But don't let that fool you into thinking it'll be full of early 21st Century metal, for the announcement trailer teases exotics like the Koenigsegg Agera and the Hennessey Venom GT, as well as the British road-racer BAC Mono. Time will tell if this is a Gran Turismo beater, but the early signs are promising.
