The Mercedes S600 Guard Is A Bomb-Proof Luxury Limo With Volvo-Like Strength
If you like to roll in style but live with the genuine threat of getting shot at, this is the car for you. The Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard is an incredible luxury limo, designed from the ground up to protect its occupants from both bullets and explosive devices.
The bulletproofing begins at the bodyshell stage; special steel is integrated into cavities between the body structure and outer skin to provide occupants with protection. The S Guard also has underbody armouring, which helps protect against explosives placed beneath the car.
Despite the fact it has been built to withstand anything you can throw, shoot or explode in its direction, the S600 is designed to look like any other S-Class.
Furthermore, while all hell breaks loose outside, you’ll remain comfortable thanks to a luxurious interior that is designed to be a mobile office. The Warmth Comfort package ‘pleasantly warms all surfaces’ you could touch. Fancy.
Air quality is apparently important to the rich, so the Air-Balance package provides improved air filtering, ionisation and fragrancing. An emergency fresh air system is initiated in the case of smoke or irritant gases, while a panic button is always in easy reach.
There’s even a chauffeur-spec front seat to make driving the 523bhp 6.0-litre V12-powered tank all the more comfortable. Top speed is limited to 130mph for ‘weight reasons’ - Mercedes won’t reveal how much weight it’s put on, but the standard car already tips the scales at 2.2 tonnes.
The cost of this luxury limo is on a strictly need to know basis, but can you really put a price on luxurious safety? If all of this sounds a little too expensive, however, then we’d suggest buying an old Volvo instead; they’re also bomb proof. Probably.
