This Might Be Lamborghini's Long-Rumoured Hypercar

Lamborghini has teased a new car it'll be bringing to the Frankfurt Motor Show next month - is this the mythical LB48H?

If the most recent Lamborghini reveal - limited-run versions of the Huracan and Aventador - left you a little cold, allow us to present something much more significant. Well, we think - if this darkened teaser image is depicting what we suspect it is, the world will soon be seeing one of the most important cars in Sant’Agata Bolognese’s history.

“Something new is on the way,” the caption accompanying the image on Facebook states, adding, “The only way to see it is to open your eyes to the future. Are you ready for the International Motor Show IAA in Frankfurt?” Given all that, and the shape of the thing (it’s clearly not a Huracan or Aventador), this might just be the long-rumoured ‘LB48H’ hypercar.

The near-mythical Lambo hypercar will supposedly draw styling inspiration from the all-electric, ‘self-healing’ Terzo Millennio concept, and sure enough, the teaser shows a car with a similar lighting signature and roofline. At this stage, we’d expect the Frankfurt car to be a production-previewing concept, rather than the finished product.

A production version will most likely be a limited-run affair, but it’ll have much wider implications. The LB48H is set to use a hybridised version of Lamborghini’s famed V12, which will almost certainly go on to power the next-generation Aventador.

Adding electrical assistance to the firm’s 6.5-litre engine may sound like blasphemy, but it’ll ensure Lamborghini can keep a naturally-aspirated engine in its flagship supercar while its rivals opt for downsized turbocharged units. That’s a price worth paying, isn’t it?

The new Le Mans class reminds me of the 90’s GT1 lineup with cars like the toyota GT1 that were just racecars that had a road version made. And I am all here for it

I really hope that Aventador successor will be a full hybrid and will be 200-300 kg heavier than Aventador. Because heavier=better, Am I right?

Judging by that downvote, (not by me) I think you may be not right.

Ironically, a KERS system adds less weight than a turbo
