A More Affordable McLaren 720S Has Been Revealed
We can see why you might want a McLaren 720S. They look great, are spectacularly fast and have clever suspension that makes them weirdly supple. Quite a recipe.
With a starting price of £208,600, however, few will be able to afford one. Thankfully, McLaren has built a more attainable version, and it’s just £315 - about 0.15 per cent of the cost of the regular version. Result!
As with most things in life, though, there is a catch. If you’re much over six years old, you’ll probably struggle to get yourself behind the wheel. If you’re an adult, it’s going to be especially difficult, although by all means feel free to try. Preferably when no one is around to take a photo to post on the Internet.
Following up the P1 Ride-On release a few years ago, this new 720S version is powered by a single electric motor. There’s no word on performance, but we anticipate that it’ll be possible to reach the heady heights of 3mph, and potentially beyond.
It has a brake complete with a working brake light and has a speaker to play out engine noise so it (sort of) sounds like the real deal. If you’d prefer, you can plug in a USB stick or SD card to play your favourite tunes. It even has - like all McLarens should - dihedral doors.
The 720S Ride-On is ‘started’ and operated with a key, but if the driver hasn’t quite grasped the concept of steering yet, an adult can take control via a remote instead.
It’s available to order now in seven different colours, although if you want one in the Papaya Spark launch hue, you’ll need to wait until later in the year. This version will only be available at McLaren retailers.
