MotoGP Rider Luis Salom Killed In Tragic Barcelona Crash
Moto2 rider Luis Salom has passed away after crashing heavily in a Free Practice session at Circuit de Catalunya today
After crashing heavily at turn 12 during MotoGP Free Practice at the Circuit de Catalunya, Moto2 rider Luis Salom has sadly passed away. Medical cars and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene immediately and Salom was taken to a nearby hospital and operated on, before succumbing to his injuries at 1655pm local time.

The Spanish rider scored nine wins in the Moto3 series before graduating to Moto2 in 2014. At the time of his death, he was racing for the SAG Team.

Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

I am really angry about the fact that Luis Salom would still be with us, and that would’ve been a normal Free Practice crash, if that turn had gravel instead of tarmac on the outside.
