The MS-RT Transit Is The Modified Van Every Workman Needs (Probably)

If you need a van, but modifying is life, then check out the new MS-RT Transit Custom. It’s the van you need if you love Ford’s famous load-lugger but you’re secretly a bit jealous of the customised van scene pretty much owned by the Volkswagen Transporter. Either that, or you just want to get your business noticed.

Muscular, flared wheel arches wrap around 18-inch OZ Racing alloys wearing Hankook Ventus S1 evo tyres. It’s the obvious choice for a working vehicle, right? The ride height drops courtesy of a set of Eibach lowering springs, and you have to say the big ol’ van sits surprisingly well on the road.

The suspension and tyre mods improve handling and responsiveness, says the South Wales-based firm, without sacrificing practicality. In fact, if you need to justify this to your boss, you could legitimately say that the lower ride height means it’s easier and safer to load and unload the van. Health and safety arguments always win in the workplace. You’re welcome.

All MS-RT Transit Customs are loaded with kit. Sat-nav joins Sync3 infotainment, dual side-loading doors, parking sensors, a reversing camera, a heated windscreen, heated seats and upgraded, brighter headlights with daytime running lights. There’s even a 230-volt power converter to feed a normal UK three-pin plug. Charge your phone, fire-up a mains-powered hammer drill – do what you like with it.

All this is powered by a 168bhp, 299lb ft diesel with a choice of heavy-duty six-speed manual and six-cog automatic gearboxes. After proper Transit fashion it’s yours as a two- or three-seat panel van, a five- or six-seat double-cab van and you have a choice of two wheelbases and either a top-hinged tailgate or traditional twin side-hinged doors.
