My Experience With The Essen Motor Show (2016)

It’s half 6 in the morning, I slept well, but I was constantly thinking about what I will see at the exhibition… I stand up, put my clothes on and got to the bathroom, then I washed my face with ice cold water, with a big smile on my face I looked into the mirror on the wall.

As I entered the kitchen my dog greets me and I made myself a sandwich as breakfast. “Today’s the day…”, am I thinking while eating it. After an hour I went to my school, waiting for my classmates to show up. At the parking lot behind my school, I saw the bus waiting for us, students and of course our teachers.

Finally after about 1 and a half hour of travelling, we arrived in Essen. At the entry we had to show our tickets to security guards, a few minutes later I entered the first of many halls, I was just stunned from what I was seeing…
My classmates and I walked into the first hall, where we took some photos. Luckily I had a layout plan from the exhibition places, so I used it to navigate me through the crowds.

After walking around alone for almost about 3 hours, I took a break and had a delicious “Currywurst” with some French fries, one of my classmates took place next to me and we had a little talk about the exhibition so far… As we both finished our meals, we walked further.

At the J.P. Performance booth (a famous German Tuner), I stopped for a couple of minutes and took pictures of his cars, at the booth there were 5 or 6 (or even more?) different cars, a BMW M4 and a Mercedes G-Klasse, both with a crazy looking wrap, a modified Porsche 911 and 2 GTR’s, a white R34 with the hood open and a clean looking R35.

Right at the entrance of hall number 7 there was a black car, I couldn’t recognise it first, but as I came closer and closer I realised it was modified Miata… WITH A V8 IN IT ! “Holy cow, look at this mad Miata !”, I screamed to my classmate. I was screaming because behind us, there was the so called “Drift Taxi”, basically a Drift Show but the visitors could take a seat next to the driver and enjoy the drifting. It was awesome to see and to smell, how they did some epic drifts. Some of the drift cars had also a turbocharger, while drifting with these the crowd went nuts, when the turbo(s) spoiled and the iconic sound of the blow-off valve(s) was heard throughout the entire hall.

About 1 hour later, after the Drift Show has ended, my classmate and I went to another hall, we both didn’t know what to expect there, but I knew somewhere, maybe even here, there must be the booth from Liberty Walk…

While walking I saw a big banner hanging on the celling with some Japanese letters and a message “ Imagine All People Living In Peace”. We have found it, my classmate and I went around the booth to see which cars they had. (At that point, I didn’t know, that my classmate was at the other side of the booth, he thought he lost me.)

There it was… The world famous Ferrari 458 with Liberty Walk bodykit ! In front of it, there was also a Mini with a LW bodykit, which had the same color as the Ferrari.
Suddenly my classmate dragged me out of the crowd and showed me the other side of the booth, where I couldn’t believe my eyes… A LW Aventador, fully made out of carbon fiber!

It was unfortunately time to go already, but I had a ton of fun there… I knew tomorrow I would come back with my stepfather and my brother and have a second time to spot more cars, but I was a bit sad about leaving this place for today. It was f*cking awesome!

( Here are some of my Highlights from visiting 2 days of it… ENJOY ! ) ;)

Also... Did I mentioned that I met this guy?

For those who do not know him, it's Jean Pierre Kraemer a.k.a JP from JP Performance (#schokohasengang)

Man, I wish I could see these cars IRL. Good pictures, I think you could’ve been a bit further back when you took the photos (I can’t see the whole car), but then again I know you just wanted to stare at them and there were other people that probably walked infront of you so you couldn’t take a proper picture.
