My favourite sounding V10 engines of all time. Part 2/7 #BlogPost

This is the second part of a series I decided to make a while ago. On the first part I covered what to me are the best sounding V12 engines of all time and now, as the title suggests, I’ll be talking about some ten cilinder goodness. So without further ado, let’s get to it.

This is the second part of a series I decided to make a while ago. On the first part I covered what to me are the best sounding V12 engines of all time and now, as the title suggests, I’ll be talking about some ten cilinder goodness. So without further ado, let’s get to it. Again, the list has no particular order.

1 - Gemballa Mirage GT

My favourite sounding V10 engines of all time. Part 2/7 #BlogPost

The Gemballa Mirage GT, a Carrera GT on steroids, 645bhp and a top speed of around 402kph (250mph). But what I like the most about this car is the sound. It just sounds like an F1 car. Listen to it!

2 - Lexus LFA

My favourite sounding V10 engines of all time. Part 2/7 #BlogPost

I think if there’s a company you wouldn’t expect to make one of the best supercars of all time is Lexus and with the help of Toyota and Yamaha, that’s exactly what they did with the LFA. Packing a 4.8 litre N/A V10, this Japanese beast sounds like an angry whale and I love it!

3 - Lamborghini Huracan

My favourite sounding V10 engines of all time. Part 2/7 #BlogPost

Of course this list wouldn’t be complete without a car from Sant’Agata Bolognese. The Huracan, with it’s 5.2 litre engine, is not only one of the best sounding V10 engines but also one of the best sounding cars ever!

4 - BMW M5 E60

My favourite sounding V10 engines of all time. Part 2/7 #BlogPost

It’s almost a cliché that the M5 is here isn’t it? But there’s no arguing that this car just sounds spectacular, specially after you fit some aftermarket exhausts on it.

5 - Audi R8 V10 Plus

My favourite sounding V10 engines of all time. Part 2/7 #BlogPost

Sounds pretty much the same as it’s more flamboyant italian cousin but being german, it’s a but more tame. Still sounds amazing though.

6 - Dodge Viper ACR

My favourite sounding V10 engines of all time. Part 2/7 #BlogPost

The Viper with an 8.4 litre V10 and with side exhausts has a deep tone we all love (I think). That same deep sound together with it’s insane looks let’s you know that the ACR means business.

7 - Audi RS6 (C6)

My favourite sounding V10 engines of all time. Part 2/7 #BlogPost

The Audi RS6 C6 uses the same 5.0 litre V10 engine from the Lamborghini Gallardo but Audi decided to strap two turbos on it. The results are not only a fast car but also a good sounding one.

8 - Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera

My favourite sounding V10 engines of all time. Part 2/7 #BlogPost

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about the Gallardo. It just had to be on this list. The Gallardo is, I think, that car you instantly think about when someone mentions the name “V10”. It’s an iconic car with an iconic engine. And the sound is just epic.

This concludes the second part of this series. Hope you guys liked it! Please share your thoughts in the comments below! Next up: V8 engines!

R8 and Huracan ARE THE SAME CAR. LFA sounds a little more high-pitched than the Gembella though.

Mr.Beam

Two things wrong here:
The engine in the Viper wasn’t sourced from a truck, not even the first evolution of the engine, which had as much displacement as the 8L V10 engine in the 2nd gen Dodge Ram. The engine in the Viper was tuned by Lamborghini (it was owned by FCA back then), while the engine in the ram was not. Because of that it made more torque down low and didn’t rev as high.
Second thing: The V10 in the C6-gen RS6 measured 5 litres, not 5.2. Actually, the first iteration of the V10 in the Gallardo measured 5 litres, but I don’t know if they actually used that engine.

Aside from that, good post and I’m looking forward to the post about your favourite V8’s.

2006 Audi RS4, even Clarkson says it one of the best engines ever made. The 4.7 in the MC Stradale. Jaguar Land Rover supercharged V8.
