My grandpa has a pretty epic sim setup in his shop, so I went to play some PCars on it today
My grandpa is a mechanic in Monterey California, and since I’m on vacation there for Christmas right now, I went down to his shop to check out his updated sim setup. The new setup was better than I had thought from what he had told me.
My grandpa is a mechanic in Monterey California, and since I’m on vacation there for Christmas right now, I went down to his shop to check out his updated sim setup. The new setup was better than I had thought from what he had told me. He has a full three monitor setup with a heavy duty gaming computer so he can run Project Cars on Ultra settings at high FPS. It also has a racing seat with headphones wrapped around the headrest so that the driver can get the full sound without disturbing the people around them.
The wheel is an AccuForce Pro with Sim Commander, and it has the best force feedback simulation of any wheel I’ve played on. The seating position is great and gives a true feeling of being in a race car. There is also a gated shifter and a setup to rumble the seat when you go over bumps or leave the track. He has had the sim for a while, but he just got these updates this year, and it makes the experience a whole lot better.

The red car in the background of the second pic is a supercharged Miata my grandpa is working on. It has 190hp
Phil?
Best. Grandpa. Ever! You are really lucky to have a grandpa like that :-) I hope that ill be just like him in the future.
Yeah, he’s pretty cool. He used to race but recently stopped
Your grandpa’s a b0ss lol
Yeah, I can’t beat his times on the sim, and I have my own wheel at home that I play almost every day. I guess a gamer can never truly beat a real race car driver
Tell your grandpa I salute him 😁
I will :)
You got the SimVibe-Chassis parts too? We used them in our Simulator from FSAE Team. Pretty awesome once they’re set up correctly :D
Not sure, I’ll have to ask him when he gets back from work
All the gear and you play pCars? Really?!
He also has Assetto Corsa, RFactor, and RFactor 2, and he says that PCars is actually the most realistic simulation. If you tune the Force Feedback correctly, it is actually a great simulator
I’ll be in a city near you for Christmas. You should let me stop by to play it. :P
Where will you be?
That’s awesome man I wish I had a setup like that
I wish I had one at my house. I only get to play it around twice a year
Lol at least you get too. Any idea how much the whole set up costs?
I’ll have to ask him tomorrow
Nice Saab!
